We didn't have a lot of luck communicating with the butcher, but there was a friendly patron who could answer questions for us and make suggestions. We chose some carnitas and some seasoned chicken. We grilled them up and savored them for a couple meals.

I was recently around the shopping center and saw so many people kept going into the grocery store and decided to stop by. To my surprise, there was a small restaurant tucked away in the back. There were decent amount of chairs and tables and most were occupied. There was a front window that people crowded around to order. There were a variety of food from tacos to tamales to plates and even papusas. I ordered one lengua taco, one cabeza taco, one red tamale, and one green tamale. I wanted to try their menudo but i couldn't pronounce it right and the girl at the front gave me caldos instead. Didn't mind at all since the caldos was pretty good. The tacos were amazing. They packed it up with tons of meat and you get to dress them how you want at the salsa bar. The meats were tender and def the highlight. The tamales were good. The red tamale had more flavor and a bit of a kick than the green one. The caldos had a strong beef flavor and tons of veggies. It reminded me of a soup my mom used to make. Overall, great hole in the wall place. They constantly have people coming so you know the locals love this place.

I'm gonna play the "I lived in California for 20 years, so I I know what a real taqueria is" card and say this place is a classic example of a back-of-the-market taco joint. However, they serve much more than tacos--in fact, if all they served was tacos, I'd say this place was four-stars, but they serve a LOT more, and all that I've tried so far has been awesome...in particular, the tamales. Head's up, though: This is not the typical "gringo" Roswell wannabe Mexican restaurant, which, to me, is partly why this place is so wonderful. If you're searching for a place decorated with chintzy Mexican décor and corny music and ginormous margaritas and the whole goofy-ass Americanized thing, this is not for you. But, if you enjoy authentic taquerias or want to experience one, you'll dig this spot.

Have been trying to recreate the amazing food adventures I had in Oaxaca earlier this year and have been trying to find ingredients and authentic Mexican closer to home than Buford Highway; agreed the grocery isn't the best (chicharon are good though) but the food in the restaurant is amazing. Will get the menudo next time because everyone was having it and it looked amazing, all the plates were huge and they make their own tortillas. Best tamale I've had yet and I think I've had all of them I could get close to in 30076. Only come in chicken, but a choice of red or green, both were excellent. Will definitely be back for more - I mean the big platas are $8 and the tamales are under $2, and are super generously sized. Get outside your comfort zone; it's worth it.

SIMPLY THE BEST! There are sometimes serious concessions that must be made when one is eating in an authentic Mexican establishment. Also, we know that the most authentic and delicious Mexican taquerias are often found inside of the small mercados or grocery stores. With that in mind, this review will focus only on the food, not decor or ambiance. This is a multi-faceted grocery store that has a small restaurant, a cell phone store, slot machines, and money transfer services. The restaurant is in the rear of the store and you need to be prepared to wait as your food is freshly prepared and will take time. Our order took approximately 15 minutes, (think about waiting for a classic mint condition Jaguar to be delivered to you; when you consider what you are getting, the wait is no problem). My husband ordered a chicken enchilada plate which included a huge chicken enchilada on an authentic corn shell with rice, beans, a generous portion of sliced avocado and sliced tomatoes. I ordered the steak taco with beans and rice. The serving sizes were very generous, (the plate would feed a small army, my beans and rice were quart size). Lord have mercy!!! This was literally Mexico on a plate. Everything was absolutely delicious and seasoned with restraint so that the food tasted truly authentic and delicious. The entire time that I ate this meal, I thought of Mexico and nothing else. It was truly incredible and words can not fully express my appreciation for this meal. Oh yeah, I will definitely be coming back. Thank God for leftovers!!

I have to say that I have been in this store many times and was always treated wonderfully. The other night it was recommended to me to have the steak burrito...OMG it was the best burrito I have had in GA. and anywhere in a very long time for that matter. I was stationed in Cali while in the Marines and not since then have I had such authentic and wonderful Mexican Food! The meats they have are excellent and top quality. Their customer service is great and they are always friendly. Take it from someone who is not of Mexican descent if you get the chance I highly recommend you stopping by if not for some food maybe to pick up some groceries! You are definitely missing out if you pass this place up for some wonderful food!
